Frequently Asked Questions
How long are counseling sessions?
Individual sessions are typically 45-50 minutes long. Family, couple and group sessions may be longer. Assessments and evaluations will likely take longer depending on the assessments being given.
What is the first session like?
The first session will be a process of getting to know you and what you are hoping to get out of counseling. You may share as much information about yourself as you feel comfortable doing (we understand you are getting to know your therapist as well!). Your therapist will most likely ask you questions to help move the process along and gather relevant information. Towards the end of the first session, you and your therapist will collaborate to make a plan addressing your therapy goals. It’s normal that you may feel a little apprehensive about your first session if you have not been in therapy before. However, most clients feel a great deal of relief at the end of their first session.
What is your cancellation policy?
There is a 24 HOUR cancellation policy which requires that you cancel your appointment 24-hours in advance to avoid being charged a $75.00 missed appointment fee.
How long will I be in therapy?
Unfortunately, this is not possible to say. Each individual faces circumstances that are unique to them and the length of time therapy can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your own desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek therapy in the first place.
